Digital Media Producer Diploma
Vector/Raster Illustration and Layout/Typography
Tools: Adobe Illustrator [version 10] Adobe Photoshop [version 7] Adobe Acrobat [version 6]
In the summer of 2002, I had the opportunity to help co-found a small private college "Guru Digital Arts College" in Edmonton. I had recently left NAIT where I had worked for years and in the end, was Program Director of two full-time programs (Multimedia Technology and Webmaster).
Because of my skills as a curriculum developer and my complimentary Art Direction/Design experience, I was able to help the college get off to a great start in many ways. In addition to designing the initial curriculum, I was responsible for corporate identity development (everything from the logo to internal documents and promo pieces). This was just one of a large number of promotional items that I designed and produced for the college.
Contrasting text creates a mood and a message.
Controversial Imagery.
Raster Illustration
Tools: Adobe Photoshop 6 & Illustrator 10
The cover for this brochure was a genuine technical challenge. Very complicated clipping masks using a raster image of a man and vector text.
This was a part of a campaign of images used to give the feel of peacefulness, contemplation and emergence. This design was also used during the Adobe Illustrator course to demonstrate complex clipping paths. This helped students make the connection between a real-world marketing piece and how it was created.
Meaningful Masking.
